The crowd starts growing restless, murmuring to each other.
“Quiet!” Turic hollers and the crowd of agitated blueberries all shut their mouths at once.
“Thank you, Turic,” she says, tapping the top of his head like he’s a good little doggy. “I could kill all of the many fanged beasts and creatures like this,” she says, snapping her fingers, “if I wanted to. Okay? But I don’t. Did you read the whole prophecy because there’s something in there that says that the Saku has to wait a long long time before killing all of the beasts.”
“No, it doesn’t,” the Drandroka male says. “The cunning and fast Hutra read it.”
“Well, Hutra,” Avery says, thrusting her hands on her hips. “If you’re so fucking cunning then why didn’t you read the whole damn thing? It says that the Saku must wait years and years, decades even, before eradicating the many fanged beasts. It explains that right after the part about the daily foot massages.”
Hutra just frowns as Avery goes on, ignoring his concerns. “Now who among my faithful blueberries is willing to rise up and protect us?”
The Drandroka males aren’t as enthusiastic as I had hoped. It seems that Avery should have spent a little more time leading them and a little less time having multiple orgasms with her blue hunk, Turic.
“The ferocious and dominant Straykeer will help,” Straykeer says, stepping forward. His large hand swallows mine as he pulls me into the crowd. They part for him as he marches over to the rock where Avery is standing. “Straykeer will slay every last pathetic green man who dares to look at his beautiful Mandy.”
“As will Pontuck,” Pontuck says, raising his hand. “He will put an arrow through the head of every last green man who steps foot on Zandipor.”
“That’s what I’m talking about!” Avery says, pointing at Pontuck. “Who else?”
The other Drandroka start nodding as they speak low with each other.
“The noble Zapilo is with his Saku always,” someone says. One by one they nod and pump their fists in the air as they pledge to join in the fight.
The feeling in the air is electric and my pulse starts racing as more and more of the blueberry warriors join in.
Even Hutra pledges his support. “The cunning and fast Hutra will fight for his Saku,” he says, kneeling in front of Avery. “He will kill and maybe even die for Avery while she naps all day and eats all of our food.”
“Okay,” Avery says, rolling her eyes. “You don’t have to be such a dick about it.”
I’m feeling pretty safe and confident in this group of blue warriors. Straykeer managed to trample a whole shit ton of those alien ships with the dinosaur stampede that he caused, and even I was able to take down a spaceship and kill all of the aliens inside. We should be fine with all of these muscular blueberries ready to kill for us.
“The flying caves!” Straykeer says, pointing to the sky in the distance with his sword.
My stomach drops as I turn my head. Shit. There’s at least fifty of them in the sky, heading this way. Fifty spaceships with who knows how many aliens inside.
Straykeer steps beside me and my heart starts pounding as I stare at his tight knuckles. He’s squeezing the handle of his sword so tight that the skin on his knuckles is a light shade of blue.
How can I be scared with him by my side?
I don’t know, but I still am.
“Holy fuck!” Avery screams when she sees the approaching ships.
“The Saku will destroy them,” Hutra says proudly.
“Weren’t you fucking listening, Hutra you idiot?” she screams in a panic as she struggles to get down from the rock. Turic lifts her up easily in his strong arms and puts her down. “Turic get us out of here!”
Turic picks her up, cradling her to his massive chest and hurries over. “We have to get the Sandrokas to safety,” he says as Pontuck and Rolanda join us.
The rest of the blueberries are either rushing forward shouting their terrifying war cries with their weapons swinging in the air or they’re getting ready to rush out.
“This is no place for a delicate pink Sandroka,” Pontuck says.
“Who are you calling delicate?” Rolanda snaps at him, flashing him an angry look.
“No fighting,” Turic says in a booming voice. “We take the Sandrokas to safety and let the tribe destroy these pathetic green creatures. The mighty Turic will not risk his mate for a little fun.”
Straykeer and Pontuck both nod in agreement although they both look very disappointed to be left out of all of the fighting.
Straykeer looks back over his shoulder at the war that’s already starting. Some of the ships are already landing and the other ones are shooting lasers at the Drandroka who are darting out of the way of the blasts. They swarm over the landing spaceships, ripping open the doors and rushing in to kill every last alien inside.
