Desire Me

“Did I tell you to get dressed?” Andrew spat, striding toward them.

Lorenzo moved forward, knocking the hand that held the gun with his arm, followed by a punch to Andrew’s throat. A shot rang out, but Andrew fell to the ground in an ungainly heap.

He turned back to Angelina. Seeing her pale face, he rushed to her side. Lorenzo ran his hands over her, checking for injuries. A tremor wracked her slight frame, but she was uninjured, and he relaxed.

The sound of the heavy fabric from the cabana being jerked open, followed by a moan had him turning, placing his body in front of Angel to see Andrew scrambling out of the enclosure. The need to chase down the man who’d caused so much pain and suffering to the woman he loved, or stay and protect that same woman warred within him

Moments later, the cabana filled with Lyle and Lorenzo’s head of security. Both men seemed out of breath, but took the scene in with one glance. While Lyle pulled out his cell and called the police, Jake, Lorenzo’s security guard spoke in low tones to another of his men. Lorenzo had purposefully pulled the punch that could have easily killed Andrew Cage. He wanted the other man to suffer for what he’d done to Angel, and a quick death wouldn’t have accomplished that in Lorenzo’s mind.

“I think you two should get dressed. This place is going to be crawling with police and the press in minutes. My men have the perpetrator,” Jake said.

Lorenzo nodded and waited for the other men to clear out. He wrapped his arms around Angel, bent and pressed his forehead against hers. “I’m so sorry, baby.”

She covered his mouth with her hand. “You have nothing to apologize for. It was my fault.”

Lorenzo shook his head. “Let’s get dressed. However much I love seeing you in my shirt, I don’t want anyone else getting a view of you like that.” He kissed her lips.

He held her dress in his hands, a slight smile tugging at his mouth. She still had the strappy heels on her dainty feet. She grinned as she noticed what he’d been staring at. With a shrug, she stepped into the dress he held while he pulled it up her body.

“Dressing you isn’t as fun as getting you naked,” Lorenzo murmured.

Angel wiggled out of his dress shirt and handed it to him, zipping the dress as he shrugged into his top. The final button was secured and his shoes slipped on as the first sound of sirens could be heard in the distance.

“I hate that our night was tainted by this.” Lorenzo indicated their surroundings.

She leaned up on her toes, bringing her mouth close to his chin. She took a nip at his flesh, soothing the hurt with her tongue. “Our night is perfect. I have a wonderful fiancé and a gorgeous ring. What more could a girl ask for?”

“How about a redo at our home?”

“Hmm,” Angel hummed against his throat.

He wrapped his arms around her and lifted so they were eye to eye. A cute little squeak was the only sound she made before he claimed her mouth in a heated kiss.

“That’s not an answer, Angel mine.”

“You want me to move in with you?”

“If you don’t like the beach house, we can sell it and buy or build, whatever you want.” Lorenzo stopped as she put her hand over his mouth again.

“I love you, Lorenzo Delgado.” Angelina sniffed.

He planned to make sure she felt that way for the rest of their lives.

“I love you more, Angel mine.”

After giving statements to the police, Lorenzo carried Angel back to his car, a scowling Lyle close on their heels. The big man had apologized profusely for falling down on the job, but, as he and Angel had said, numerous times, they wanted the privacy. Lorenzo had a feeling the man would be attached to Angel until Andrew Cage was no longer a threat.

Chapter Thirteen

Angel faced Andrew Cage across the Los Angeles courtroom, glad her father had the tapes of her leaving the other man’s office. The investigator had also gained access to hidden cameras in her ex’s office. She was stunned as he’d proclaimed she had stalked him, instead of the other way around. With all the evidence pointing at him, he was obviously insane, but it was still good to have proof of the man’s crazy. Lorenzo held her hand as the judge and jury watched the video of her standing next to Charity’s desk, and the minutes that followed.

She became the soothing one as the image of her emerged from the office and flew down the hallway, limping and bleeding, and Lorenzo’s body tensed. As the footage continued to roll, Angel was shocked to see the secretary come back and help Andrew to his feet. The other woman tried to hide her smile, and, from all appearances, she’d been in the office many times, and not in a business capacity. They watched as her gaze landed on the ring, and she snatched it up. They kissed, a sloppy meeting of lips that had no effect whatsoever on Angel.
