Desire Me

“Wow! I hope he didn’t threaten him. He’s good at that, you know.”

“Shut up! Dad is a new man. He’s actually agreed after he and Mom gave me an extra-long lecture that you and I can date as long as you continue with your studies and as long as that does not affect mine. And as long as I keep away from the bad boys and when we go out you drop me home by eight P.M. I guess he still thinks I’m sixteen. And if I leave home to live with you before you have a stable job, he will cut off my allowance because ‘no daughter of mine will be used as a cash cow by a penniless boy.’”

“Boy? Did he call me a ‘boy’?”

“Are you even listening? You have managed to gain some level of approval from him. You are the first one that has even gained that!”

“Great. Since I have no champaign here, I guess I’ll have to make do with a coke,” Clay said, and they laughed.

“I’m looking out the window right now,” Tina said. “I know your apartment window faces same side as my bedroom. Can you see that aircraft flashing blue and red up there moving east?”

“Lemme see...yeah, I see it.”

“See...you ain’s so far away. Goodnite. Kisses.”

“I declare you kissed goodnight,” Clay responded.
