Cherished (McKenzie Brothers, #5)

Noah

Clearing my throat, I watch the amusement finally start to spread across Emelia’s face. She’s so cute. With the dark hair flowing down her back in soft waves, her curvy, petite frame encased in a short elegant cocktail dress and minimal make-up, she is a stunner. Something that Yuri noticed.

“Okay, well,” she coughs. “I guess I know where he’s coming from with that, him being a priest. But really. I’m his sister. All he has to do is announce at Mass that he has his sister staying with him for a short time. It’s not exactly difficult, and problem solved.”

She’s not going to give up.

Smiling, I place my palm back on Ramon’s thigh and slide it along until my knuckles graze his crotch. He’s still got the bulge going on and as I rub over the ridged length, my own dick answers with a vengeance.

It’s dangerous out in the open, but I need to remind Ramon that he doesn’t just want me but that he needs me as well.

After I’d calmed down earlier, I decided to be more reasonable tonight, which is why I’m all over him. The relief I’d seen in his eyes when he saw me was worth a lot to soothe my aching heart.

Ramon keeps his hand on my thigh and rests it against my own groin. He doesn’t move his hand, just teases.

He smirks at me because he knows that move is driving me crazy and, without missing a beat, he turns back to Emelia.

“I know where you’re coming from,” Ramon offers. “I think you need to talk to Dante and find out if there’s some other reason that he doesn’t want you to stay with him. He might just be trying to put you off when there is a bigger issue.” Ramon shrugs. “It’s just a thought.”

“Maybe. I hadn’t stopped to think really. I’m not sure he’s going to be happy when he reads the message I sent him when I arrived.” She gives us a naughty grin. “I told him where I am.”

This doesn’t sound good.

“What did you tell him?” I ask, probably seconds before the same words leave Ramon’s mouth.

Emelia grins. “I told him my location and that there were lots of sexy Russians here.” She leans closer and whispers, “I actually asked him if he thinks that they’re part of the Bratva.”

Ramon makes a weird noise at the back of his throat before he can get his words out. “He’s going to lock you up and throw away the fucking key. Are you serious?”

Heat fills Emelia’s eyes at Ramon’s words and I wonder at it before it disappears as quickly as it appeared—making me wonder if I was imagining it.

“Yes, I am. If he thinks I’m going to be in trouble by myself then he’ll take me with him.”

She has it all planned.

Feeling Ramon’s erection hardening the more I stroke through his jeans, I pull back. My dick is uncomfortable behind my zipper and before too long, I’m going to need more—a lot more. Getting it on in Poles isn’t such a good idea with Yuri owning the place, plus I’m too damn old to resort to restrooms in these places.

“I think we’re about to have some trouble,” Ramon mumbles, distracting me from thoughts of him naked.

I glance at him before I follow his line of sight. Dante.

“Um, he looks angrier than I thought he would,” Emelia moans. “Perhaps this wasn’t the best idea.”

For a priest, Dante looks awfully pissed.

“Ramon, Noah,” he barely greets before focusing on Emelia.

“Dante,” she nervously whispers.

“Emelia.” He sighs, and holding his hand out, she takes it and lets him pull her up from the booth. “We really need to talk.”

Dante turns to us. “Thank you for taking care of her. I’ll be in touch.”

With those words, he pulls Emelia close before he leads her out of Poles.

I turn to Ramon and smile when I realize he’s already focused on me.

“I didn’t mean what I said earlier,” he quickly apologies. Taking hold of my hand and entwining our fingers together he continues, “After what we’d done in the office, the earlier part of the day all came rushing back and I thought I wanted to be alone…I was wrong to let you think what I did. If there’s ever a next time, I’ll just come out with it because I’m assuming you’d rather have blunt than what you got. I’m sorry.”

Moving closer to Ramon, I kiss his cheek. “I realized once I’d cooled down that you hadn’t meant it the way it had come out. Next time I would prefer honesty. If you need to be alone just tell me.”

He shakes his head. “That’s just it. I thought I wanted to be alone, but as soon as you’d left, I wanted you there. I needed you.”

Part of me feels good hearing him admit there was nothing to his words, but I can’t help feel sad that he’d needed me and I’d left. I’d just taken his words as gospel instead of confronting him.

“Say something.” Ramon tugs on my hand.

“Let’s forget about what followed after I made you come in your office,” I smirk, “and tell me what happened when you went to see Griffin.”
