Sauk Prep was exactly as I knew it would be. A piece of shit school with a bunch of stuck-up jocks and prissy bitches that thought they were better than you because their families had money. The school itself wasn’t so bad; it reminded me of any other typical school, minus the green and white school uniforms we were forced to wear. Thankfully they didn’t have one for me yet, so I got to wear my denim jeans and t-shirt.
I watched Noelle out of the corner of my eye as we sat in the school office together waiting for Principle Jefferson, as she called him. She was wearing the uniform: a green skirt with a button-down white t-shirt that was tucked in. Her sunshine-colored hair was curled at the ends, and she had a headband in her hair. The only thing that gave way to her own personal style were the pair of hot pink chucks she was wearing. Yeah, anyone with eyes could see she was sexy as hell.
“Stop staring at me,” she whisper-yelled at me, shooting dagger from her eyes. I smirked, knowing just how much it pissed her off. Ever since our argument where I exposed myself to her, she had been distant. Which was a good thing because I didn’t want a whole lot to do with her either. I mean she was nice to look at, but that was about all.
“It’s a good thing I can do whatever I want then, isn’t it?” I relaxed into my chair, my eyes skimming up her long legs. She was beautiful; I would give her that. Something decent to look at, but she stood for everything I hated about my father. She got the life that I never had; the money that paid for all the things she could ever want and need.
“Asshole,” she muttered under her breath. My smile grew at the same rate her anger did. I watched as she clasped her tiny fists together in her lap. It made me feel better to evoke anger out of her. After all, her and her mother were the reason I had to live as I did and the cause of most of my problems.
“Bitch,” I whispered back. She whipped her head around, staring me straight in the eyes with a look of shock and confusion forming in those hazel orbs. Did she seriously think we would be friends? Didn’t she get that I didn't want a damn thing to do with her or her perfect little parents?
“Noelle, Royal, please come in.” Mr. Jefferson’s voice met my ears, and of course I shot up from my chair, walking over to him before Noelle even had a chance to stand. I looked Mr. Jefferson up and down, sizing him up. He was a large man, a bit round in the belly, though his height seemed to make up for it.
The gray suit he was wearing said he took his job seriously, and I wanted to ask him if it was really that hard of a job supervising a bunch of stuck-up brats, but I didn’t. I could save it for another time knowing damn well I would be in his office again. Probably several more times if my track record with authority said anything about me.
“Thank you for seeing us, Mr. Jefferson.” Noelle gave him a soft smile as he ushered us into his office, closing the door behind us.
“Not a problem, Noelle. Anything for you.” His eyes twinkled as he stared at her. I was starting to wonder if Noelle blew him in between classes with the way he was looking at her.
“Royal needs a class schedule, and then we need to place an order for uniforms.” She carried on a conversation with him as if I wasn’t here at all. It didn’t sit well with me to be ignored all while being the topic of discussion. To say I was pissed off was an understatement.
“I don’t need a uniform, thank you,” I commented before Mr. Jefferson could. He narrowed his eyes at me in annoyance. I could tell he was judging me, making assumptions about me. I wanted him to. I would prove him right every single time. I wasn’t about making people think that I was a good person when I knew I wasn’t.
“Uniforms are a requirement, Mr. Black, and I’m sure that your father has already explained that to you. A failure to follow school policies can land you in some hot water, son. If I were you, I would stick to doing as you’re told.” He spoke with authority, like his words meant I had to obey them or some shit. That didn’t fly with me. Not in the least bit. You could call me whatever you wanted, say whatever you wanted to me, but it was my choice to decide what I wanted to do with it. I didn’t like being told what to do. Not at fucking all.
“He understands, Mr. Jefferson.” Noelle’s eyes shot to mine, I could see the words she was saying without even speaking. She had all but told me to shut the fuck up ten times over. I wanted to laugh at her for thinking she had such a right, but would find a way to get back at her later on. It wasn’t hard to make her blush. I bet she was still a virgin with her reaction to me removing my pants the other day.
