“I’m not going anywhere,” I whisper as I sink into him, letting him hold me even tighter. I love it here. If Mandy were here, it would be perfect.
There’s still no sign of her. Pretty much all of the Drandroka that Avery sent out to find her have returned empty handed. It’s not looking good.
The thought bums me out. I kiss Pontuck on the lips and wiggle out of his tight embrace.
“I just want to go for a walk,” I say. “I need some air.”
“Pontuck will go with you,” he says, his shoulders tightening.
I place a hand on his hard arm and he sighs. “It’s okay,” I say. “I have my knife. You can’t always be by my side. Remember we talked about this?”
His face is tight but he nods, reluctantly letting me go. He wants to be my constant guardian, which is nice but sometimes I just need a moment to myself.
It’s nothing big. We’ll get through it. Just a little women are from Mars, men are from Zandipor kind of thing.
I leave the comfort of the fire and Avery rushes over to walk with me. She slides her arm over my shoulder and I squeeze her hand and smile as she kisses me on the cheek. Her hard belly presses into my side making me giggle. I’ve really gotten attached to this girl. I’m so glad she’s here with me.
“Whatcha doing?” she asks, leaning her weight on me.
I hold her up and look at the bright moons in the sky. This planet really is beautiful.
“I was just thinking of Mandy,” I say with a sigh. “Do you think she’s looking up at the bright moons like we are?”
An irritating beeping interrupts us as Tin Tom rolls over, ruining our peaceful moment.
“Don’t worry about your friend,” he says in his choppy voice. “She will be found.”
Nausea creeps up my throat. That doesn’t sound good. “What do you mean?” I ask, turning to the blinking garbage can.
The lights on Tin Tom flash. “She was tagged with a tracker. You all were.”
“What?” Avery screams.
“Where?” I ask, rubbing my wrists and then neck, trying to feel it inside of my skin.
“It’s bound to your DNA and can never be removed,” Tin Tom explains. “Your tracking code is a part of you now. Isn’t that amazing?”
He just stands there blinking as he waits for an answer.
I kick him over with a stunning sidekick. How’s that for an answer?
Turic and Pontuck come racing over with their daggers drawn. “My Avery,” Turic shouts. “Turic heard you scream.”
“It’s okay,” Avery says as she helps Tin Tom back up. She always had more of a soft spot for the robot than I did.
She turns her back to the boys and kneels down in front of the robot. “But all of the aliens are dead, right?” she asks. “Rolanda killed all three of them.”
I glance at Pontuck and smile when I see him looking at me proudly. He likes that I’m a badass warrior chick.
Tin Tom blinks wildly. “Great news earthling women!” he says. “Tom turned on the homing beacon before we left the spaceship. Emperor Rsordan is probably on his way here personally to fetch you to be his love slaves. Isn’t that wonderful?”
My jaw clenches as I glare at the piece of junk. The aliens are coming back here?
“Pontuck,” I say. He leans down and I whisper in his ear.
He leaps forward, snatches Tin Tom into the air and tosses him down the hill.
“Emperor Rsordan is coming! Emperor Rsordan is coming!” he repeats over and over again as he rolls down the hill.
“Shit,” I say feeling my blood go cold. “Emperor Rsordan is coming.”

My life is a nightmare.
Stranded on an alien planet. Scared. Lonely. Hungry. Exhausted.
I have no hope.
I think I have it bad now but the creepy aliens are coming back for me to make it even worse.
Until I meet my possessive blue protector, Straykeer.
Once you get past the blue skin, he’s kind of cute.
Once you get past his booming war cry, he’s pretty sweet.
And once you get past his two swords lopping off the alien heads trying to hurt me, he’s really really sexy.
His tingling tongue and skilled hands are the thing of miracles.
And this blue barbarian is quickly turning my nightmare into a dream…
Yet another word from Kim Fox:
Since drama queen James Cameron put a restraining order on me, I am opening up my movie offer to J.J. Abrams.
