EPILOGUE
It had been two years since we had defeated the Dark Lord. We had watched our mansion go down in a blaze of glory and it forever changed our lives. Our fortune had burned with the mansion, but my brilliant father had made so much money at his gym and had moved some of the fortune out of the mansion, that we were set for life.
Hikers had found Lucas’s body about four miles downstream from the waterfall. It was bloated and swelled, but was ruled as an accident. His family was in total devastation. The town story said that he was hiking through the woods and found the waterfall. He went to look over the edge lost his footing and fell ending his life quickly. The fall broke his neck and cracked his skull. I was in the clear.
Julie came to visit quite regularly. We no longer needed her as a maid, but we kept her as a friend. She was all of our protectors.
My mother explained to me the whole witch lie. She said that when my father was beating on her, that she would stay in her room by her bed praying. She had asked Julie to help her. She knew everything before Landon and I had a chance to tell her. She played her part well.
My father did forever change for the better. He took his second chance and turned his life and his ways completely around. He never laid another angry finger on my mother. They were happy and my father was being converted into an angel. My mother did win after all.
Landon and I were married about a month after the defeat of his father. He started working with my father as a co-partner at the gym. We lived right next door to my parents. Our houses were identical and only two stories. No more mansions for us. We had a hundred acres of land to share and we made use of all of it. We lived closer to town, but we were still surrounded by woods.
As for me, my life could not be any better than this. I went from a lonely sad teenager to a very happy woman in a month. I did graduate from high school, but I never made friends with anyone from there. Landon was my best friend and he was all I wanted.

I stirred from my sleep and seen Landon standing at our bedroom window. I rolled out of bed and stood next to him. He was looking at the snow covered mountains, through the view of our window. He pulled me close and wrapped his arms around me.
Together we stood looking and I loved being in my husband’s arms.
“I love you, Elizabeth,” he gently whispered in my ear. “You know my father did me a favor of stripping my powers from me. He made me normal so that I could live the life I wanted to, with my beautiful wife who changed me.”
“I love you, too Landon and life couldn’t get any better than this.” We stood there a moment longer until we heard the screams break through the silence. The twins were awake and had been sleeping restless through the last couple of nights. Something was going to happen in the future.
We headed to their room. They were standing on the side of their cribs holding on and crying. The twins sensed that danger was coming, but exactly when they did not know. I went to Asher and picked him. He instantly stopped. Landon grabbed Ariel and held her close cooing to her.
I was pregnant with them when I fought the Dark Lord. I was surprised that they survived and I was thankful for them every day. The picture was a present from Julie, she said she couldn’t help but show us.
Asher had dark black hair and dark black eyes just like his daddy. Ariel had dark brown hair with brilliant blue eyes, she favored me.
“Oh, my precious babies did we have another bad dream?” I asked while kissing Ariel lightly on the cheek and holding Asher close with his head resting on my chest.
They shook their heads in unison. They were close to each other. If one woke up the other knew and cried just as hard as their twin. It was like they could feel each other’s pain.
“Do you want to come sleep with mommy and daddy?” Landon asked them gently.
“Yes,” they both screamed at the same time in their little voices.
We walked them back to the room and laid them in the middle of our bed. Landon crawled in next to Asher and I crawled in next to Ariel. Landon turned out the lights while I covered us up. We snuggled down under the blanks.
Asher grabbed Ariel’s hand. Ariel leaned her head up against Asher’s and they both closed their eyes.
“I love you Asher and Ariel,” I whispered to them. Landon did the same. I looked over and whispered the same to Landon.
“Oh, but I love you so much more,” he replied silently and wrapped his arm around Asher.
I laid there quietly with the light of the moon shinning down on us through the window, admiring my little family and wondered how lucky I was to have them in my life. I chose my own destiny and this is what I had chosen. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
I knew they would come for me again soon. There were now three of us who had powers that the Dark Lord wanted. The twins were half demon and half angel. I would do anything to protect them and I knew Landon would, too.
I snuggled down further in my blanket and wrapped my arm around Ariel. We would wait and we would destroy him again.
The twins, as they get older will be trained on how to control their powers and we will be ready and waiting for the return of danger. We would defeat the Dark Lord when the time came again. For now we are enjoying life as a family and it can’t get any better than this.
