Wicked Winter Tails: A Paranormal Romance Boxed Set

“Let’s go for a walk down to the water”. Chenille tugs at my arm and I eagerly stand up, wrap my arms around her, picking her up slightly and spinning her around before placing her back down. “Anything for you.” I mutter.

The moon is almost at its fullness tonight and breathtaking glistening across the water. We take a seat on the edge of the dock and let our feet dangle almost touching the still water. Chenille lays her head on my shoulder and we sit in silence for a while. Every now and then she leans her head up and kisses me. Even though my blood is cold, her warmth sends heat through my veins.

In the dead silence I hear the crackle of tiny limbs nearby. I focus off to where the woods meet the bank and notice a moving silhouette. I stand and pull Chenille up with me. “We should go inside now”. I demand.

“What’s going on”? She whispers with fear in her voice.

“Creatures of the night”. I explain.

She starts laughing. “Isn’t that what vampires are called”?

“That and many other things as well”. I pull her to walk with me.

Just as we reach the end of the dock, a dark shadow appears and moves into the moonlight. A man’s face appears and he walks closer to us. “Good evening. I didn’t know anyone was out here so early in the season. I’m Larry. I live in the cabin down on the east side”.

“Nice to meet you. We own the house and land here. We came here to get away from the city for a few weeks. We are headed back up for dinner. Have a good night”. I excuse us and lead Chenille up the path.

When we reach the house and get inside I lock the door and begin checking the windows and front door.“Thayer, what is going on with you? I’ve never seen you be so rude before and now you are acting paranoid”. Chenille stands in front of me so I can’t walk anymore.

“That wasn’t just some man strolling the lake. It was a werewolf. They don’t like vampires and we don’t like them. Chances are he won’t leave us alone now that he has my scent. We might need to go home in the morning. The full moon is only a couple nights away”. I explain.

“We will stay in before it gets dark. I’m not having some hairy monster scare us away from this place when we aren’t ready. I can cast a spell so they can’t come near the house”. She smirks and leans up, planting a big kiss on me.

“I don’t know how I forgot that you have witch powers. No biting your lip around him though”. I tease,on the outside it comes out like a joke, however inside, I will always have that fear. She will fall for another man.We sit on the couch and I wrap my arm around her.

“You’re cute. My lip biting days are saved up for you now. When we get back to the city we need to be locked in the room for a couple more days before returning to the real world”. Chenille smirks and climbs on my lap.

I can’t help but stare at her beauty and wonder how a vampire could be so lucky. It is believed that vampires are a part of Satan. The spawns of the devil himself and I don’t know where or how we originated, but I’m glad that we did or I’d be to old to catch the eye of Chenille. So, even though I spent most of my vampire existence wishing I was human or dead, I now understand the why behind the fangs. Her. My soulmate and one true reason for being on this earth.

We spent the night making love and it had no magic or vampire compulsion but it was one of the best nights I ever had. We slept in and I’m sure it was from the warm that I felt even with my cold hard skin. It’s the connection with Chenille that keeps me warm. I miss the human warmth that I felt before changing into a vampire but I can imagine it’s almost like the feelin I have in my chest when I see her face. Love.

Tonight it’s a full moon and Chenille has cast a spell over our land and the house so we are safe from the outside intruders. After dinner we stroll arm and arm to the dock to witness the full moon. It’s so beautiful watching it in her eyes. I might have seen it in that location more times to count but it’s like it’s the first time witnessing it with her.

In a short distance I can see two shadows. My instinct is to panic but I am quickly calmed when I remember the spell that is placed around the land. Chenille and I both hear this loud howl and then what sounded like painful thrashing in the woods. We both stand and are interested in seeing what we already know is happening. The change. The human changing into a man.

“Have you ever watched it happen”? Chenille questions turning her gaze to the woods.

“No, I’m not sure if it would be terrifying or exciting to watch. Do you want to get closer?” I ask, hoping she will say no but I can already see that she wants to which is why I knew to ask.

“I do. We are safe. No wolves can get through the wall I put up. Heck, my sisters couldn’t even get through it”. She giggles.

I reach for her hand and she takes mine in hers. We walk to the property line just at the edge of the woods. The shadows become more distinct and we see two thrashing figures. Half human and half wolf. “Oh my God. One of them is female”. Chenille looks at me shocked.

“Umm. I’ve never heard of a female werewolf. I mean it makes sense but I always picture men when I think of them”. I respond and wrap my arms around her. She is shivering from the coldness in the air.

We continue to watch as the change continues. It’s strange and weirdly fascinating. The whole change takes about fifteen minutes to complete. Then as soon as it’s over, the wolves connect with one another. It’s not like two dogs having sex it’s more intimate. They have passion between them like humans do.

“So, I’m thinking something odd. Let’s go back to the house”. Chenille excitedly pulls my hand and ushers me to the house.

I am so glad I’m not the only one turned on. I pick her up in my arms and carry her the rest of the way. Once we get back to the house and get inside she gets on her phone and begins searching on the internet. Well, the mood has passed now and I’m at a loss but I let her do her thing.

“Okay it’s perfect.” She explodes with excitement.

I’m as dumb founded as I was when I came through the door and she went for her phone. “Care to explain?”

“Let’s both become werewolves. Then we will have everything we want. A full life together, children, half human life and a half Paranormal one. We just need the wolves to bite us. What do you think?” She explains and eagerly I might add.

“I love you for trying to think of a way for us to be together but this is something you need to talk with your family about before we go any further.” Leaning in, I kiss her on the top of her head and wrap my arms firmly around her. “Thayer, it’s now of never. How often have you seen werewolves in your lifetime? We will be human after the full moon and then I will explain it to them. It’s not their life.” Her voice is determined and firm.

“Listen, your sister barely like me already. How will they feel about me if you do this? If this is what you want then I will get bit first and then we will discuss it with them. We have time. It doesn’t need to be now.” I plead with her.

“Okay, first I will set a new spell in motion that will save you from any other harm than a bite. Then I will let the change happen and make sure that I am protected from you after you transformation.” She has thought of everything.

Hours pass and I move toward the woods and cross the property line into the darkness. Within minutes I see large red eyes peering through the trees. My heart races and I am terrified. I don’t want to be a vampire but I don’t want to be a wolf either. The only good thing out of this all is that I will be with Chenille and be able to give her a normal life. A life filled with family, daylight, and children. One bite and I can give her everything and in the end, she won’t need to change at all. I’ll be part human and our children will be part wolf.
