Her eyes instantly filled with tears. She knew right then that Blaine would be a good father. Maybe not the kind of guy that would balance the checkbook and check the 401(k) balance to make sure they were saving enough for retirement. But he would fight - he would kill - for his family.
With her bottom lip quivering, Jessa reached down and slid her fingers into Blaine’s hair. She twisted and pulled, wanting to hurt him. She did hate him. Oh, a great part of herself hated him. So fucking much. But that exact part was starting to love him. Maybe that part always loved him and she just wanted to be a good friend to Meghan.
Blaine looked up at her and nodded. His eyes looked glazed. Like he was…
Jessa felt her jeans vibrate.
“What the hell…”
“My phone,” she whispered and laughed.
“Oh. Yeah.”
Blaine backed away.
Jessa reached down and slid her hand into the front pocket of her jeans, which were down at her ankles.
As she pressed a button on the screen, Blaine grabbed her wrist. “We have a lot to talk about.”
“I know.” Her finger slid across the screen. It was a text message from Mike.
“Who the fuck is Mike?” Blaine asked.
“Uh…”
Blaine grabbed the phone. He read the text out loud. “You’re going to get it, baby. Come over. I’m hard just thinking about you.”
“That’s not what you think,” Jessa said.
Blaine threw the phone to the bed. “You fuck this guy since me?”
“No. Nobody has…”
“Then what does he want?”
“Exactly what it says,” Jessa said. She stood up and dressed herself. “You think you’re the only one with needs? I don’t do relationships so…”
“You have a fuck friend?”
“I guess you could say that.”
The rage and jealousy flashed across Blaine’s face. Jessa almost regretted admitting that to Blaine. Maybe it would have been better to just tell him that Mike was an ex or something. There was nothing Jessa could do then about the whole situation though. Blaine had seen her phone and he was picturing her with Mike. She could tell by the way he looked at her and the intensity of his eyes.
Being with Mike was nothing like Blaine. If Blaine was a blizzard then that made Mike the lightest of flurries. There was no way Jessa could say that to Blaine though. He was already close to exploding.
“When was the last time?” Blaine asked.
“Before you,” Jessa said. “That’s all that matters.”
“No. Tell me.”
Jessa touched her stomach. “I’m carrying your child, Blaine. You can’t get…” Jealous. She was nervous to say the word. “I’m not a virgin, okay?”
“Oh, I know that,” Blaine said with a sly grin. “I’m not sharing you though. You’re mine. My baby. My family.”
“I never said you had to share,” Jessa said.
The tension seemed to let up just a little.
“Not with men,” Blaine said. “But another woman…”
Jessa snorted and started to blush. She thought about that stupid whore going down on Blaine. The way he stared at her… the way it made her feel… Jessa suddenly saw herself maybe touching herself while…
Her phone beeped again.
Another text message.
Fuck.
“This asshole…” Blaine’s eyes went wide as he looked at her phone.
“Give me,” Jessa said.
She took her phone back.
Mike, again. Of course.
Don’t ignore me. Don’t make me find you. Luke is here. He’s game.
The phone left her hand.
Now Blaine was livid. “Yeah? This guy just orders you around?”
“It’s not what you think.”
Yeah, Mike had been suggesting to Jessa about his best friend, Luke, getting involved in their relationship. That was something Jessa always shut down, but the last time it came up, Mike got pissed and told Jessa to leave.
Blaine threw the phone to the floor and grabbed Jessa by the face. He stared and curled his lip.
“I know exactly what it is,” he said. “You hate being alone. You know you need someone like me. Yet you let a loser like this guy fuck you when it’s convenient for him. So you feel wanted. Let me guess, he’s some suit and tie. Makes you feel so fucking special. But you’re not that person. You don’t want that. You want the outlaw. You want the wildest ride of your fucking life.”
Jessa swallowed the big lump in her throat. “And what if I said…”
“This guy is fucked.”
“No. Blaine. You have so much going on.”
“No. You are my family. That means all those guys out there are family, too. This guy is getting his turn. He wants some action… so we’re going to give him some.”
Before Jessa could say anything, Blaine kissed her. He kissed her hard and fast. The way lover’s kissed.
His hand touched her stomach.
This was nothing but stupid and reckless danger.
But Jessa kind of liked it.
twenty-one.
Blaine was on fire. The tension in his body was like nothing he could remember feeling. A pulsing anger for some guy he didn’t know or didn’t give a damn about. Yet he wanted to kill the guy. Because the guy had touched Jessa. Because the guy assumed Jessa was for the taking. Just some bitch to bend over and take a dick, right?
Fuck. No.
That’s not who Jessa was. Or what she was meant for. Hell no.
Blaine rushed through the clubhouse and grabbed Trev. “You got a few?”
“What’s up?” Trev asked.
“I have a personal situation. I need back up.”
