“Meg?” Grayson said as he put pressure on my hip for me to turn.
When I turned around, I saw everyone standing behind Grayson. My jaw trembled as I looked at the people I loved so much. My father and mother stood up front with huge smiles on their faces. Grams and Gramps were even there standing next to Gunner and Ellie.
My head slowly shook as I looked back to Grayson. “I don’t understand.”
Taking my hand in his, Grayson’s eyes teared up. “Meg, I found us the perfect place to get married.”
My eyes widened. We hadn’t really talked about where we would get married.
“Oh . . . I think it would be a perfect place to get married too,” I said.
Grayson cleared his throat as his blue eyes pierced mine and held me for the longest time. “I also think it would be the perfect place to raise our family.”
I frantically nodded my head as I cried and said, “I think so . . . wait. What?”
“Can’t you just imagine a house sitting right here, overlooking that view?”
Tears streamed down my face as I silently cursed my stupid hormones.
“A house?”
“And I was thinking, with all the land we could have a camp for kids who are bullied or come from underprivileged homes.”
My eyes searched everyone’s faces behind Grayson and all I saw were smiles and tears. My mother was crying like a baby and my father looked happy as a clam.
“A camp?” I asked as I sobbed. “Wait. What . . . are . . . you saying?”
“I’m saying that if you want to make this our home, I want that too.”
My body shook as I tried to contain all the emotions I was feeling. “But . . . but what about your job? Gray, you worked so hard and . . . and . . . I won’t let you give that up!”
His hands cupped my face as he kissed my tears away. “I love you, Meagan Atwood. Haven’t you figured it out yet, the only place I need to be is by your side.”
My lips trembled. “Your mom? What about your mom? You’ve always depended on each other and you’ll be thousands of miles away from each other.”
The feel of his thumbs gently moving over my skin caused my body to erupt in tingles. “She has James now and lets not forget Rick and Sandy . . . the she-devil herself. Besides, she can come visit and stay with us anytime she wants.”
I couldn’t help but giggle as my eyes searched his face. He was completely serious.
“You’d really move to Texas just for me?”
A sexy crooked smile slowly appeared on his face as my knees wobbled. “No, I’d move to Texas for us. For our happiness, our future, and our family.”
“I never, in my wildest imagination, thought I could ever love you more, but you keep doing these things that make me fall deeper in love with you.”
Wiggling his eyebrows, Grayson dropped his hands and pulled me closer to him. “Then I hope you fall deeper tonight.”
My face grew red as I playfully hit him on the chest.
Grayson’s face grew serious. “Meg, if this is what you want, then I’m behind you one hundred percent and we can figure it all out as we go.”
I nervously chewed on my lip before Grayson pulled my lip from my teeth and gently kissed my lips. When he pulled back, I asked, “Can we afford this? I mean, Gray, it’s so much land and we have to build a house. Neither of us will have jobs!”
“Your job is to take care of my son growing in your belly. My job is to do all the worrying and get it all figured out.”
My body felt like it was humming when Grayson mentioned having a son. “What if it’s a girl?”
His eyes sparkled as he glanced down to my stomach and back up at me. “I guess if it’s a girl, I need to start preparing now because I’m almost positive she’ll have me wrapped around her finger.”
Throwing myself against him, Grayson wrapped his arms around me. I buried my face into his neck as I heard everyone shouting out and clapping.
Grayson spun me around a few times before setting me back down. I’d never tell him the action caused me to lose my breath from the pain in my ribs. I’d never say anything to ruin this perfect moment.
Everyone walked up and began congratulating us. Taylor grabbed my arm and pulled me off to the side as she wiped her tears away.
“You’ll never know how happy I am to know my sister is home again. I’ve missed you so much, Meg!”
Her reaction caught me off guard and I was sure there was something more behind it, but now was not the time or place to ask her.
“Me too, Tay. I love you so much and I’ve missed you.”
Taylor hugged me and I couldn’t help but notice how she held onto me a little tighter and longer than usual.
When she stepped back, my parents walked up to me next. After a gentle hug from both of them, my mother tried desperately to not start crying again but failed.
After getting hugs and kisses from everyone, Grams walked up to me and handed me a small box.
“Should I open it now?” I asked as I looked into her beautiful blue eyes.
