Oh my gosh, it’s so hard to know where to start with this because the list of people I have to thank is long and humbling. In the UK, thanks to my fabulous agent and friend Veronique Baxter at David Higham, and also to the entire foreign rights team there who have done such a great job selling Behind Her Eyes into different territories. And of course a huge thank you to all those editors who bought it too! I am forever indebted to Natasha Bardon, my editor at HarperFiction, for giving me the chance to pitch to her and then for being such a great champion in getting this published. The same goes for the publicity and marketing teams, the art department and everyone else who has been so enthusiastic. I’m very very happy to have a new home with you all.
In the US, a big thanks to Grainne Fox from Fletcher & Co for doing such an amazing job and keeping such a cool head as I squealed and giggled through the process, and I am so delighted that Flatiron Books are my new home stateside. Big thanks to Christine Kopprasch my editor for wanting the book and having faith in it, and also to Amy Einhorn for her support of it. Again, as with HarperFiction, the whole team at Flatiron have been so lovely to work with and I couldn’t ask for better people. Let’s hope my book does you all justice. I’m lucky to have great editors who have given great notes. This book is so much better for your input.
I also have to thank Baria Ahmed, my buddy, for pointing out, when she read it after we’d been through several rounds of edits, that I’d referenced a hospital in Perth, Australia, instead of Perth, Scotland. Good catch!!
And also, of course, last but very much not least, huge thanks to all the readers who pick Behind her Eyes up. I really hope you enjoyed it. You’re all what makes the job worth doing.
