Good Game (The System, #1)

First, I obviously have to thank Cat. Sure, Cat designed my absolutely killer covers (swoon). But what you don’t know is that Cat read the very first version of Good Game…like legit, Cat read this before I had even finished the last chapter. She fell in love with Stevie and Aleks before anyone else and has been the best cheerleader I could ever ask for. I love you, my sparkly best friend.

Second, I have to thank my amazing editor Katie K! You were so amazing, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with. I know you had to deal with all my Australianisms…and the fact that I clearly did not know the difference between further and farther, but you were so patient with me. Also, you shipped Sydney and Parker from page two, and that makes me smile.

Thank you, Alyssa, for formatting my books. You are a superwoman, juggling seventeen different things at once.

Mum and Dad, thank you for being the reasons why I love reading. And thank you for letting me camp out for two weeks straight in your house to write eighty percent of this book. You always support me no matter what. I know that you will both be in my corner until the end of the time, and I will forever be grateful for how lucky I am to have you as parents.

Also, Dad, thanks for answering my random car and motorcycle questions.

Due to technical issues…I have to thank my little brother, Ethan. Sure, my dad played video games when I was a kid, and so did my cousins (shoutout to Elle playing The Sims of the PS1), but it is because my little brother played video games that I became so invested in them as well. We spent hours growing up playing Halo, Pokémon, and more. He is also the reason why I found out about gaming YouTubers back in the day. So, thanks lil bro…even though you suck at texting me back.

Thank you, Jen (thebookrefuge), for reading Good Game at the absolute speed of light. Even though our conversation led to me completing gutting and rewriting four chapters and then adding in another three new chapters on top of that (resulting in surprising my editor with another 8,000 words to edit…), you were a super star Beta Reader.

Thank you, Katie (katiesbooknook426). You were my very first friend I made when I joined BookTube, and so it was only right that you were one of the first people to read my book.

Thank you to Sophie and Ryan Lark for your friendship and your support. Soph, you are and always will be one of the most inspiring women I have met—sending you all the hugs.

Jeanine Bennedict. GIRLIE. You are one of the best human beings I have met. We had some random as hell voice memo exchanges, but you were the very first person who helped me figure out what the actual fuck I was even doing publishing my book. Your friendship is priceless.

Kat-freaking-Singleton. I love you.

Thank you to Carlie Jean (my vegan boo) and Cali Melle (my hockey lover) for answering my super random questions and supporting me in my debut.

Thank you, Becca, for dealing with every quarter-life crisis I had. I know I seem like a hot mess on my good days.

Ms. Arkin. I have no way of getting into contact with you, but you were one of the best English teachers I had. You led me on my journey of writing poetry and Bellarke fanfiction.

Also, I’m thanking my Indiana college bestie, Katie. You didn’t read this or anything, but you’re my bestest friend who has stuck by me over the last six years no matter what. My ride-or-die.

Lastly, thank you to the super-secret, confidential-as-fuck project that I can’t name for being the reason why I started writing this book. This project kicked my ass into gear, and I will forever be grateful for that.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Madison Fox was born and raised in Australia but has been living in the United States for the past decade. While she still watches Australian football every Sunday, she currently resides in Nevada as a cat mum to Zelda (yes, based on the video game).

Madison has always been obsessed with books. As a child, she would stash chapter novels in her pillowcases before bedtime so she could read after her parents went to bed. Madison joined the book community in 2018 with her YouTube channel (@bymadisonfox) and has never looked back.

When Madison isn’t reading or writing a new book, she can be found drowning in one of her other obsessions, such as k-dramas, manga, anime, video games, and espresso martinis.

GOOD GAME is her debut romance novel.
