An earthquake of ecstasy swept across her being. Her body clenched around Sawyer’s shaft over and over, hungrily squeezing him tight. Tingling, electric waves passed through her, as she gave in fully to the explosion. And then, Sawyer was joining her, finding his release as well. With one final, powerful thrust, he let out a growl and stiffened before shooting a stream of himself into her.
After several breathless moments, he collapsed onto her, careful not to crush her. He nuzzled her ear, whispering more “I love yous” to her before gently rolling off of her. He lay next to her, holding her hand while they both basked in the afterglow, sweaty and happy. After several minutes, Amanda looked over at Sawyer and smiled.
“Not a bad way to celebrate the anniversary of the day we met,” she said, giving his hand a squeeze.
“Not a bad way at all,” he agreed. “But don’t go getting ahead of yourself. The celebration is far from over.”
With that he leaned over and found her mouth with his. Just like that, they were off again. Amanda smiled as she melted into his kiss. She couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate, or to spend such a beautiful, warm summer day. Everything felt perfect in the arms of her bear.

His Rescued Mate
This alpha wolf has met his match!
by Marie Mason
An excerpt
Part of the Blackwood Brothers series
About this scene from His Rescued Mate
Orphaned as a pup, Janet Dupree struggled her whole life to belong. Her curvy figure and un-submissive attitude made her unwelcome in her own pack. Labeled as useless, her unscrupulous alpha sold her to a lion shifter. As head of the Shifter Council, it was Liam Hart’s duty to help twin bear shifters rescue their mates from an insane lion holding female shifters against their will. He and his wolf were shocked — and mad as fuck — to discover their mate was being held captive as well. Man and beast were delighted to discover she was a deliciously curvy wolf with a sassy attitude. Now he faced his greatest challenge of all—breaking through this female’s hostile defenses to show her how loved and wanted only a mate could truly be.
In this scene wolf shifter Liam Hart and his rescued mate do a little one-on-one defense training and some no-holds barred loving.
His Rescued Mate
An excerpt
Liam knocked on the bedroom door feeling as nervous as a teenager about to pick up his date for the prom. What the fuck was the matter with him? He’d had women—shifter and human alike. He liked women. He liked sex.
Even if she was his mate, and he wasn’t saying she was, she needed someone better. Someone who could keep her safe. He’d failed his sister and had already failed this woman. She’d been orphaned as a pup and captured and tormented by the same insane shifter who had taken his sister. Logically, he knew he couldn’t have protected her either of those things, but it angered his wolf. Angered the wolf against the hands of fate who had kept her from him. Made him rethink this whole fated mate thing. How could fate have let her suffer that way?
He thrust his hands through his hair, frustrated. He knew there was always a reason behind the events that transpired in one’s life, a higher power if you would, guiding you, shaping your destiny. He had firsthand knowledge that bad things still happened. Death. Danger.
Life. Happiness, his wolf whispered. Mate.
He growled at his wolf who simply huffed. He and his animal were both right. Death, danger, life, and happiness would always exist. But fate had promised someone to help bear those burdens and share that joy. How could a woman who had suffered as Janet had want to share such things with a male who hadn’t been there for her when she’d needed him most.
He knocked on the bedroom door again, needing to see her. The kiss they had shared this afternoon had left him hungry and aching for more. The door opened and there she was. She’d taken a shower and her long hair lay in soft waves down her back. He recognized the faint scent of strawberries, the fragrance from her shampoo. Some female wolves covered themselves with lotions and perfumes and he had no idea how they stood it. Or the how the men did who took them to bed. He was glad she didn’t do that. Her sweet essence was enough. More than enough.
She looked up at him shyly, half her body hidden by the thick oak door. He could see her hand gripping the inside door knob and willed her nervousness away.
“Hello, sweetheart.”
