“That’s enough of that,” Niall snapped as he entered the room, pulling off his own clothes and walking straight into the shower, shoving Jack away from me and I got all of a fluster as I looked between them.
“No. Bad, Spider. You don’t play with them unless I give ya the go ahead.” He pointed at me and I pouted. “Go get dressed, big fella,” he commanded Jack, not taking his eyes off of me and Jack left the room, wrapping a towel around his waist and stealing the sight of his muscular ass from me.
“Did you not like watching me with Mateo?” I asked sadly, hoping I was wrong.
“I coped with it just fine, I suppose,” he said airily and I looked down to find he was rock hard.
“You look happy,” I spoke to his dick. “You liked it, didn’t you?” I reached for his cock but, Niall snatched my wrist to stop me, giving me a serious look.
“Did you like it?” he asked.
“Yes,” I said huskily and he smirked at me.
“Yeah, I know ya did.” He grazed his thumb up my neck as his brow lowered. “Even when he choked ya?”
“I liked that bit the most,” I said with a girlish giggle and his smirk grew darker.
“Alright, it’s settled then. You’re the boss, love. You tell me when you fancy a whirl with them and I’ll give ya the green light, so long as I don’t wanna steal ya from them myself.” He kissed me deep and slow and I whimpered at the feel of his hard cock against my stomach, knowing this wasn’t going to end here. “We need to go tell my pa and Anastasia about our happy news.”
“Can I be there so I can watch the exact moment her dreams are crushed out of existence?” I asked excitedly and he nodded. “And Jack and Mateo and Brutus too?”
“Not Mateo,” he said. “My family’s looking for him and the treasure he hides. They can’t have him.”
“Okay,” I agreed and Niall scooped me up, pressing me to the wall as he lined himself up to take me.
He gave me an expression that made me tingle all over. “We’ll give him a visit in a few days, once I’ve had my fill of ya.”
T he drive to my pa’s house was a quiet one, the night pressing in around us as it fell beyond the windows and the dangerous prospect of what I was about to do laying heavily on my shoulders.
I licked my dry lips, glancing in the rearview mirror at Brooklyn and Jack where they sat in the back of my Ford pickup, her head nestled against his chest while he held her close beneath his arm.
Bastard had barely even flinched when I’d patched him up after the crossbow incident and he hadn’t mentioned the pain of the wounds on his shoulder in the three days since, even though they had to be hurting like a bitch. He had taken plenty of fuss from Brooklyn though. No problems for him to accept that. He’d almost gotten her to sleep in his room that first night too, though I’d put an end to that sharpish by promising her a night filled with orgasms which she hadn’t been able to resist. I’d have to keep an eye on him and el burro though. This wasn’t a society where everyone got equal votes or any of that bullshit. It was a dictatorship and I was head dick. I had the wedding ring to prove it.
Brooklyn was humming a tune as she looked out the window, winding her fingers between Jack’s and kissing his knuckles while he just watched her. But as I bumped over a pothole in the road, he raised his grey eyes to meet mine, a twinkle of smugness shining in them which got me all kinds of riled up.
“Any chance you can drive, big fella?” I asked him in a low voice, my fingers tight on the steering wheel as I turned a corner and entered the private street where my family all took up residence, aside from me and my nephew Kyan.
“Yes,” he replied and I nodded.
“Then you’ll be able to drive this in a getaway if it comes to that.” I didn’t add the part which stated I’d be dead in that scenario, but he nodded his understanding, letting me know he’d keep her safe no matter what. I’d had that chat with him nice and clearly while she was drowning herself in Coco Pops this morning, and I was confident he got it. He had one role to play here: keep her alive.
“Yes,” he agreed once more, letting some of the unease in my gut settle.
I began to pass by the houses of my brothers and sister, nieces and nephews, each of them more ostentatious than the last, each trying hard to win a dick measuring contest which they knew I would easily dominate if only I could summon the energy to participate in their bullshit.
“Did you grow up in a fancy house like one of these, Hellfire?” Brooklyn whispered, the awe in her voice making me shift uncomfortably in my seat.
“Not all pretty things are sweet on the inside, love,” I murmured, tension growing in my limbs with every second that we closed in on the heart of my family home.
Brutus barked from his position in the back of the truck. I glanced at him in the mirror as he lifted his nose to the breeze and sniffed at it, no doubt scenting bullshit on the air and wanting to sink his jaws into it.
“You remember what I said?” I asked as I turned onto my pa’s drive, pausing for the electric gates to open for me and ignoring the men he had positioned there as I drummed my tattooed fingers on the wheel.
“Stay close to you and Jack,” Brooklyn sighed, like that was the most boring instruction she’d ever been given, but she’d be fucking sticking to it or there would be hell to pay.
“And Brutus,” I growled. “You don’t let go of his leash unless you have to run for your life – got it?”
The seriousness of my tone made her lift her eyes to mine as I turned to look back at her and she nodded.
“I promise.”
I glanced at Jack as he tugged her to his side more firmly. “Safe,” he vowed and there was something in the set of his jaw and the feral look in his eyes which made me believe him on that. He was her creature just as I was, and he wouldn’t see any harm come to her.
I clucked my tongue, wanting nothing more than to turn and drive away from here while knowing this had to be done. I’d have preferred to do it alone, but Brooklyn needed to see it with her own eyes. She needed to let those damn insecurities of hers fall away into the irrelevant nonsense that they were. She was the only woman for me, and I’d spell that out plain as day to all those who thought to deny it.
I nodded once, slamming my foot to the floor the moment the gates had fully opened and tearing up the gravel drive without another word, making Brutus bark in alarm in the back and a whoop of excitement spill from Brooklyn’s lips.
Mateo had wanted to come too of course, but even he had been forced to admit that revealing himself to a whole host of Irish and Russian gangsters who would like nothing more than to torture a member of his fancy cartel in the quest for information on their organisation and the riches he’d stolen from them was a bad idea. So he was just stewing away back at the house. I’d even left his collar off when we went, making it clear to him that this arrangement of ours was coming upon a grand change. When we returned, he’d either be ready and waiting, looking to sign up to this ride until the bitter end or he’d be gone, and we’d see the truth of him plain enough. He hadn’t run yet, so I suspected he’d be staying.
Strangely, I was hoping for that too. Because no matter my own feelings on him or the behemoth currently sitting in the back of my truck, it was clear to me that they were important to Brooklyn, and I didn’t want to see her cry over either of them. So if keeping them around equalled her happiness as well as her safety, then so be it. I could work with that. I never had made obvious choices in life, and this seemed like the kind of lunatic idea I liked the flavour of.
