Almost as if he was reading my mind, Markus steps into the room. Meeting my gaze, he strides over to me after looking at Sara and then giving his wife a questioning glance while shaking his head. Stopping in front of me he quickly lets me know that he has a solution to my worries.
“Little Vincent and I will be walking you down the aisle, if that is alright with you Ember. I know that you are wishing that your father was here to do it, but sometimes life doesn’t work out the way we would like. You do have your son and he and I discussed what he would need to do and he asked that I help to make sure that he doesn’t mess it up. He is really a good boy, Ember, and so much like his father.”
“Yes, of course, Prez.”
“Markus, please.”
“Sorry, yes, Markus. I would love for you to help him get me down the aisle to Doc.”
Forgetting the blip that had happened only moments ago, I see my son coming into the room. He strides over to Markus and they speak briefly before he makes his way over to me. “Mom, are you ready? Everyone out there is ready and Dad told me that it was time he made an honest woman out of you.” A laugh leaves my lips and I am smiling as the women walk out of the room. Hearing the Wedding March come over the speakers the smile only widens.
I cannot believe I am about to walk down the aisle to Vincent.
I cannot believe that Vincent put together this surprise for me.
I cannot believe that we are finally going to be able to spend the rest of our lives together.
Chapter 9
Doc
Everyone took their seats quickly after the girls went into the back room. I headed to the front of the rows of chairs and the archway that had been placed there. Tank, Gun, and Country all came to take their places next to me. And we wait.
As the music starts to play Pearl, Heather, and Sara each come down the aisle in turn. Taking their places on the other side of the aisle as all our family, friends, and my brothers stand. Turning to watch my old lady come down the aisle to me. Our son beaming with pride as Markus helps him get my woman to me.
As she reaches me, Markus prompts our son as to the answers for the questions that Preach is asking him. After shaking my hand and giving his mother a kiss, Little Vincent makes his way to a seat in the front row next to Ember’s mom.
Turning to her, I cannot help the smile that comes to my lips. Ember has one to match and I squeeze her hand tightly as we turn towards Preach. He runs through the words quickly and it is a blur until the point he tells me that I can kiss my old lady. I don’t need to be told twice before I have Ember up off her feet kissing her with all the passion and love that I have.
Hearing the brothers hooting and hollering draws me back to the reality of the moment and I release my wife. Turning towards the crowd of people I nod my head to them and look towards Prez.
“Congratulations are in order to Doc and his new bride and old lady, Ember. Do so quickly and lets fucking eat. I want to get on to the next part of the night!” Smacking Pearl on the ass loudly as he finishes, he is the first to greet us.
Pulling Ember into a hug, the jealousy that I would usually feel is lessened by the ring that is now sitting heavy atop her finger. As Tank, Gun, and Country make their way over but are beaten to the punch by the women. Pearl is the first to make it to us and embraces both of us before stepping aside for her husbands. Heather is next, followed by Sara. I catch the looks between her and Gun and am reminded of the last wedding we were at those months ago. That is the first time that any of us got any inclination that something was going on between those two, or I should fucking say, had been going on between those two. I hope that this night ends better than that one did.
Chapter 10
Ember
After saying our vows, every person in the room came up to us to offer their congratulations. It must have been almost two hours later before we were sitting down to eat. Don’t get me wrong: I ate some food during those two hours, mainly off of other peoples’ plates as we were walking around.
When I find out that Sara was in charge of the food I asked her quickly who cooked. She smiled and answered quickly, “Country and Heather actually made most of the food. They volunteered one day when I was having a hard time trying to find someone to come to the Clubhouse to cater.”
“This foods fucking delicious,” is all that Doc gets out before he takes more from the serving dishes in front of us and sits down at the table.
“I agree; I will have to talk to them about cooking for all of our get-togethers.” Markus adds on, helping himself to some more food as well and going to sit next to Pearl.
Filling up a plate of food I sit next to my husband and son. As we eat I find myself looking at both of my Vincent’s and wondering what I did to get so lucky.
