Forever and a Day

chapter 8

“It’s not over, it’s just beginning,”- Cam

Danielle was having a good day so far. She had gained new clients today and she landed big endorsements for a couple of her clients. She was typing up her to do list when her cell phone interrupted her.

"Hello" she said to the unknown number.

"Good afternoon, how are you ma?" Cam's voice came through the phone.

"Last time I checked I told you to lose my number? Somebody doesn't listen," she reminded him of her text.

"Look, what happened between my boy and your girl don't have shit to do with me or you," Cam said.

"Yeah whatever, I don't have time for this. Is there a reason you called me?" Danny said ignoring his last statement.

"I wanted to take you out to lunch today, so what time is that?" Cam asked.

"I don't want to go out with you" she countered.

"Well, I'm coming to take you out. So all that other shit you saying right now is unnecessary." Cam demanded.

"How are you going to tell me what the hell I'm gonna do?" she said.

"Look, remember what you said, you don't have time for that. I'll be there in a minute," Cam said hanging up.

Danielle just looked at her phone and was shocked that he hung up on her. She knew Cameron would be the one to put her in her place but she wasn't going to give in. He thought he knew what he was getting himself into, but he didn't have no idea. Just as Danielle got back to her list, her phone rung again.

"Hey girl," Danielle smiled.

"Don't hey girl me. Brielle is pissed at you right now," Shanice said.

"What did I do?" she frowned.

"Girl, you know what you did. Why did you try to play Cameron like that?" Shanice yelled.

"Girl bye, Cam played himself. I only ended it right there before it was too late." Danielle said.

"End it? Danny he didn't do nothing to you." Shanice reminded her.

"He didn't do anything yet! Had I gave him a chance I probably would of had to really show my ass," Danielle laughed.

"You’re not right, by the way Brielle should be calling you in a minute so let me get off this phone because you're in trouble," Shanice joked.

"I'm not in trouble, Bri will definitely understand when I speak to her." Danielle hoped.

"Are you sure we're talking about the same Bri?"

"Yes, I promise you, when we finally talk, Bri will be all smiles and giggles" Danielle confidently said.

"Um huh, good luck with that. Bye sister!" Shanice said and hung up.

Danielle didn't want Brielle to be pissed off with her, but after she told them about her date she didn't want anything to do with Kiyan or his friends. Cameron didn't do anything to her, but she knew if she was to get close to Cam that Kiyan would be apart of the equation. Danielle knew if she saw Kiyan, she wouldn't be responsible for what happened. Danielle knew Brielle since she was 9 years old and she hated to see Brielle mad. Ever since they were little kids in school, Danielle vowed that if Brielle had a problem, she had a problem too. She knew she better call Brielle first so she picked up her phone and called. She waited until Brielle answered until she spoke.

“Hey sissy, before you start I already know that you’re upset with me,” Danielle started.

“I’m not upset with you Danni, because I know what you were thinking already. I just want you to stay out of this one. I spoke to Kiyan today and we are on better terms. We’ve decided to be friends. So you need to call Cam and apologize.”

“Call Cam? Girl bye, that boy called me like thirty minutes ago and basically demanded that I be ready to go to lunch,” she laughed.

“Well you better go and make sure you don’t give that poor boy no unnecessary problems. You know how you get. You are so damn stubborn,” Brielle responded.

“I guess so. I just want to tell you I love you and your problems will always be mine. You and the girls are the only family I have. So I have to protect my family.” Danielle reminded her.

“Danielle, I love you more & I know. You’re my sister forever and you know that. Have fun with Cam. Please don’t start no shit girl with that man. I mean it.” Brielle said.

“I won’t. I’ll call you later on tonight.” Danielle said ending the call.

~~~~~
Danielle didn’t have to wait long; twenty minutes after getting off the phone with Brielle she received a call saying her lunch appointment was here. Danielle grabbed her purse and phone before heading downstairs to meet Cameron.
As Danielle walked towards Cameron, she was reminded just how cute he was.
“Hey ma,” Cameron said hugging her.
“Hi Cam, Danielle responded, I’m ready if you are.”
“Damn, I’m surprised I’m not gonna have to drag your little ass out of this building,” Cameron laughed while holding the door for Danielle.
“Ha ha ha, very funny.” Danielle countered.
“Seriously, when I called you were full of attitude. I just knew when I came to pick you up, you was gone give me hell.”
“I was prepared to give you hell too before I spoke to my girl.”
“Well, I guess I have to thank her.”
“I guess so, I have to apologize to you.”
“No need. It’s cool.”
“No seriously. I apologize for thinking the worse of you because of your stupid ass friend. Your not him, so I can’t punish you for his shit.”
“Ma, I said an apology isn’t needed.” Cam started to feel bad because he knew that him and Kiyan both thought the same thing about Brielle and Danielle. He knew if he told her, this lunch date would be over before it even started. He promised himself that if they got to close, he would tell her the real deal. If they didn’t get close there would no need to tell her anyway.
Danielle got inside Cameron’s black Infiniti g35 and asked, “So, what do you do for a living?” while inspecting his car.
“I own Royalty Records with Kiyan.” He responded.
“Oh, that explained why there was so many celebrities at the party this weekend”
“Yeah, we know just about anybody,” he beamed.
“Cool, so where are you taking me?” Danielle asked.
“Just sit back and relax. I got this.” Cameron said giving her his infamous smile.
“I love this car. I want this in pink.” Danielle said changing the subject.
“Pink, they don’t make this shit in pink. Don’t tell me you a girly girl,” he joked.
“No, I’m not I just can picture this car in pink and it would be hot.
“I don’t know about all that,” Cameron responded while pulling up at a beautiful three-story house.
“I know we’re not at your house? If you think anything is going to happen, you got me all the way f*cked up,” Danielle stated seriously.
“Damn girl, I didn’t say anything was gonna happen. I bought you to my house because I cooked you lunch. Damn what a way to f*ck up the mood,” Cameron expressed getting annoyed.
“My bad. I just had to let you know.” Danielle said not caring about his sudden attitude.
“Come on yo.”
Walking into Cameron’s house, Danielle stood speechless. His house was beautiful. He had an open house. There were no walls blocking off the rooms. He had white floor to ceiling columns. His walls were turquish green, she had never seen anything that color. She was impressed at the way his house was decorated.
“I take it that you like my house,” Cameron said interrupting her thoughts.
“I love it. Who decorated your house?”
“I did.”
“Stop lying, I did. I told them what I wanted and how I wanted everything and they did it.”
“I’m impressed, your house is beautiful.”
“Thank you. I’ll take you on a tour after lunch. Lets go on the deck.” He said leading her to the sliding glass doors.
“Oh my god, this is beautiful.” Danielle said as she walked on the deck to see the scenery and the picnic setting. “Did you do this yourself?”
“Yeah I did it ma, you like?”
“I like it, but how did you do this when you only called like a hour and a half ago.”
“I started this when I woke up this morning.”
“How did you know I would of came over?”
“Didn’t you hear me say, I was prepared to drag your ass out your office building,” Cameron laughed.
“Thank you” Danielle said giving him a hug.
“You got it lil mama,” Cameron smiled while helping her sit down.
Danielle and Cameron had lunch on the deck. They began to really get to know each other. She was impressed, even though he had a past that included selling drugs, still managed to attend college. Danielle’s guard began to come down after lunch with him. Cameron was really feeling Danielle. She had a down to earth personality. She wasn’t your typical woman. She loved sports and was fascinated with cars. She owned her own business and she was a damn good sports agent. Cameron was pissed at himself when he realized that he would soon have to come clean about judging her before he even knew her. He decided that today wouldn’t be the day; he wanted to enjoy her company before she went back to work.
