All Wound Up

She made a low sound in her throat, then pushed back against him before pulling forward again. “I see. I feel you. Oh, it feels so good.”

She worked in tandem with him, pushing back as he thrust into her. He grasped her hips and drove in deep, then eased out, prolonging the pleasure for both of them. And when she reached between her legs to touch herself, it was all he could do to keep from losing it, from coming right then. Between feeling the way her body gripped him and watching her in the mirror, he was ready to go off.

But Aubry would come first.

“Come on, baby,” he said, giving her fast thrusts as she touched herself. “I want to feel you tighten around me. Make yourself come and make me come, too.”

Her breathing quickened, and the sounds she made as she brought herself to climax nearly shredded him. And as she pushed against him, tilted her head back and came, he let go, shoving deep inside of her, watching both of them in the mirror as he grabbed her hips and shuddered against her.

He’d never watched anything hotter, especially since Aubry’s gaze was riveted to the mirror, watching them.

Out of breath, he held on to her and came down from that incredible high. He smoothed his hand over her back, then leaned over to press a kiss to her shoulder.

She smiled at him in the mirror. “Great back rub.”

He grinned. “Glad you liked it.”

“Oh, I more than liked it. But now my legs are shaking.”

He laughed and disengaged, then turned her around and kissed her.

“I also need a shower now,” she said. “You made me sweat.”

He cupped her butt and drew her against him. “You probably need another back rub, too.”

“Mmm.” She tipped her fingers across his jaw. “I might. Though I might pass out on you if you massage my back again.”

She was probably exhausted from work the night before, spending time at his game and having sex with him instead of getting caught up on sleep.

They took a shower, then crawled into bed.

“Roll over on your side.”

She frowned. “Why?”

“Because I’m going to rub your back.”

“Tucker, I wasn’t serious—”

“Roll over, Aubry.”

She did, and this time he kept his intentions to only the back rub. He dug in and found all those sore muscles, this time in her upper back. He liked hearing her groans of approval and tried not to let his dick get involved.

Within ten minutes, she was asleep. He listened to the sounds of her rhythmic breathing and smoothed his hand back and forth over her hip.

Yeah, this was pretty damn good.

Content, he curled his body around hers, pulled the covers over them both, and closed his eyes.

IT WASN’T OFTEN THAT AUBRY HAD A CHANCE TO GO out and eat with her friends, but after a particularly intense day at work on Friday night, Katie had decided they needed drinks and food, and Aubry wasn’t going to be allowed to say no. So she found herself seated at a table at a trendy bar-slash-restaurant, not far from the hospital, with Katie and several other residents, after they’d finished their reports and were sprung for the night.

“Brutal,” David said, downing his third shot of tequila. “I had a fifty-six-year-old with epigastric spasms and Chen looking over my shoulder the entire time. I nearly broke out in a sweat. I had the diagnosis and treatment plan right. I mean, I’m a third-year resident, not a goddamn intern. I don’t need him to hold my hand.”

David was a brilliant resident who knew what he was doing. He was the golden god of the emergency room—graduated at the top of his class and would no doubt go on to do great things. Hearing him bitch about Chen gave Aubry some comfort. At least she knew Chen wasn’t singling her out.

Katie scooped up spinach dip with her chip, slid it into her mouth and swallowed, then nodded. “He did the same thing to me. I had a myocardial infarction with COPD complications and Chen stood in the room staring me down as I called for the treatment plan like it was my first day. I’m telling you, the man is downright unnerving.”

“He does it on purpose, you know,” Rick said.

Rick was another one of the residents. Aubry looked over at him. “Do you think so?”

“Sure. He figures if he can’t rattle you during a crisis, then you can handle your shit. If he flusters you, then you need work.”

Katie waved a chip at Rick. “You might be right about that. So we should just start ignoring him.”

Aubry laughed and took a sip of her cocktail. “Ignore him. Right. Good luck with that.”

“Does he quiz you when you’re working with a patient?” David asked them.

“Oh, my God,” Katie said. “All the time.” She settled into her best impression of Dr. Chen, because Katie did him best. She sat up straight in her chair and put on a sour face. “ ‘Dr. Murphy, what is the proper treatment plan for a patient presenting with acute diverticulitis?’ Keep in mind, all the while I’ve got the patient screaming in pain in the bed and I’m supposed to answer questions?”
